For students who are taking several classes and working towards their final months at Connecticut State Community College and feeling a little overwhelmed on their ability to research properly theres' a course they can take in one to two sessions taught at Norwalk Campus by a librarian.

Librarian Kimberly Bryant Smith explained what they teach as part of their learning in CCS100, a required course of degree seeking first year students.

The course consists of writing a research project and gives students an overview of library resources and gives students training on how to do research for that specific project. They are given mainly career resources, how to use their library database and how to do research on their library system. In addition, they also teach how to do citations for the paper

they are writing and the method that is appropriate for the class- CCS1001 is MLA citation style for exmple, for the course.

Some other classes that partake in this course are higher level English classes, English as

a second language, nursing, anthropology, and paralegal course. It is specialized to the topic of the class. The library will create a customized session for them to help improve their research skills.

Researching skills are something that everybody should learn even though we all have most of the answers to our questions at our fingertips with a simple Google search but there is nothing better like learning from research professional themselves because you can always learn more!
