Spring Semester To Do List

After a long winter, spring is finally making its comeback with longer days, late sunsets, and warmer weather. The grass is getting greener, spring flowers are in bloom, birds are coming back to sing, and allergies are in! And although this is such a beautiful time of year, motivation can slowly disappear. As a student, this is so challenging. The spring semester is coming to an end, and this is the most important time to stay on track with your course load, appointments, registration, and FAFSA. Being forced to get it done does not make it important. It is important because all of this defines your success for the present and the future.

Continuing to stay on top of your course load is critical. This minimizes stress and makes it less likely for you to receive low grades. It allows you to have more time to focus on other assignments, hobbies, or activities outside of school. It is highly recommended that you do not procrastinate at the end of the semester. Rushed work is rushed learning and right before finals, that is not a smart choice. You want to be able to fully understand the material so you can enter finals week with confidence!

As you grow, you wish there was a manual for a lot of things. Students typically wish for a manual on how to survive college and how to be successful. And despite there being no manual for that, CT State does have academic advisors. Advisors help you stay on track with your goals and encourage you to do great. They can answer most questions you may have about courses, switching majors, transfers, graduation, etc. They play a key role in your college journey. If you do not know who your academic advisor is, you can find that information in your student portal. Once you know who it is, you can go onto the CT State Official Website and click services to make an appointment with them. Advisors provide in person and virtual appointments.

Are you interested in any specific courses? Did you miss out this semester on a course that caught your eye? Registration for courses should be done as soon as possible as they do not only benefit you but other students around you too, including professors. Registering for courses now ensures that you secure a spot in that course while ensuring that the class may still run. Low enrollment equals cancelled courses. If you do not register now, you can miss out on courses you want to take and be stuck with courses you don’t want to take. If you are a very organized person, this could also help you plan and organize your future schedules. Whether that includes changing your work shifts or allowing you to plan your commute ahead of time, it is so helpful and beneficial to not go blind. You can register for courses with your advisor or access degree works on your student portal to see what courses you are required to take for your major.

College is not cheap no matter where you go. If you rely on Financial Aid, it is critical and crucial that you begin your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) application as soon as possible. Not missing out on deadlines that could influence your amount of grants, loans, and scholarships is fundamental in your college journey. Take advantage of this application! It is free, quick, and extremely helpful. If you have any questions, speak with your advisor or visit your financial aid office located in your home campus for more information and help.

You’re almost at the finish line. Create a To-Do list with these tasks and it is guaranteed you will have a smooth end to the semester!. Good luck! For more information on how to access all these resources click HERE.
