How would you approach your professor for help?

You must always be kind and interested in learning when asking for help. Students sometimes ask inappropriate questions at the wrong time. This does not reflect their development throughout the years of school. According to the department of economics at the University of Illinois, there is a key to not interrupting your professor while they are teaching.

“Write out questions to help you narrow things down and help you not to forget if you become anxious," said this article on the university's website.

Professors use professionalism and comprehension to provide their knowledge to every single student, but students don't always understand the space and respect that they need. Students should always listen, analyze, and think before questioning them, and avoid interrupting a class to express any thought that comes to their mind. Doing so can feel, to other classmates, like they're being bullied.

This report reminds students to be disciplined in order to grow. Among advice, make sure to use professional language and preferred titles when speaking with professors.

“Respect your instructor for their expertise. Being defensive is the quickest way to turn off your instructor’s desire to help, so be open to suggestions. If you have questions about what they recommend, just ask," according to the University of Illinois article.

Professors are always willing to help if students approach them properly. Read the full article here.
